Tim Dosé was born and raised in Glenview, IL, just north of Chicago. He studied illustration at Syracuse University, where he received a BFA in 2000. After graduating, Tim moved to New York City. There, he received training in the Russian academic tradition at Bridgeview School of Fine Arts. He also studied drawing and painting at the Art Students League of New York with Mary Beth McKenzie, Michael Grimaldi, Leonid Gervits, Jack Faragasso, and Costa Vavagiakis. He also studied portraiture with Marvin Mattelson at SVA. In 2006, Tim spent a month studying the The Repin Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. Tim recently completed the Drawing Year at Grand Central Atelier in NYC.

Tim currently lives in Pelham, NY with his wife, two children, and one old cat.
